‘When Private Equity Metastasizes’.

CICTAR partner, the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union, KMPDU, developed this pamphlet, with support from CICTAR, to explain to their membership the risks and impacts on workers, patients and communities when private finance, and specifically private equity, start to move into the healthcare sector in Kenya.

This is happening across the globe, including in many other countries of the global south, and is supported by large scale development agencies including the World Bank, bilateral the development agencies of countries such as the UK, US, Sweden and Norway.

KMPDU’s organizing work against this trend may serve as a useful basis for other unions with the same concerns.
